A Facebook page is a public profile where individuals, brands, artists, public figures and organisations can promote themselves and connect to a larger number of people. People and organisations can use Facebook pages to provide contact information, post updates, share content and grow their influence. A Facebook business page is an account that businesses can set up to market their products, share information and grow their reach and client base.

Some businesses may utilise a Facebook business page in place of a website, while others may use it together with a website and have other social media accounts linked to create a more comprehensive social media advertising platform to reach wider audiences. To successfully run a Facebook business page, it's important to have a social media marketing strategy. You can also link your Facebook pages to advertisement accounts and Facebook Shops. As you set up your Facebook business pages, they generally have the following elements you can include:

How to create a page in Facebook for a business

To learn how to create a page in Facebook, you can first begin by logging into a Facebook account. If you don't have a Facebook account, on the Facebook login page click on the green "Create new account" button. Then fill in the sections that require your details, such as a name, email address or phone number, password, gender and date of birth. When you're done, click the green "Sign up" button. Facebook takes you to your new profile page where you can continue adding information, begin adding friends, uploading pictures and sharing content.

To open a business page, the steps are:

1. Set up business page

You can set up a business page for a company once you've signed into a Facebook account. Begin by selecting "Pages" from the menu on the left side of your screen, then click on the "+ Create new page" button and fill in the business name for the page. This can be the name of a company or a name that makes it easy for people to find your page. In the description box, choose the categories from Facebook's suggestions that best describe the business and then write a brief but clear description of the business.

After adding the basic information, you can click on the cell phone or computer icons in the upper right corner of your preview window to get a preview of your page. It displays on the right side of the screen on mobile and desktop. If you're satisfied with the layout, click on the "Create page" button to complete the page setup.
