Contract Employees treated as Second Rate Citizens
I led an innovative project and made strides in digital marketing within the firm as a contract employee. I reported to 6 different people over 18 months. Although I was lucky enough to have been given a dynamic project and the autonomy to drive results, there is a lack of direction and communication within the field marketing group. Management seems only to promote bank employees. Although I was identified by multiple field leaders at Merrill Lynch as someone with executive presence and the ability to engage advisors, I was beat out by bank candidates over and over again for permanent employee positions.
There are so many layers at the bank, that decision makers have lost the ability to be change agents.
