Insights into Cathay Pacific
Areas for improvement
- Fair pay for job
- Sense of belonging
- Support from manager
Bad management
Cabin Crew (Current Employee) - Hong Kong - November 20, 2023
A company that doesnt care about its employees and customers. It keeps minimizing cost including manpower but increasing workloads for the cabin crew. As a result, experienced crew keep leaving the company and customers' experience keep worsening. And the management just doesnt care.

Used to be good.
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - November 6, 2023
Used to be a great company to work for. Not since covid turned the airline upside down. They have not quite recovered from covid and staff moral still low.

Extremely underpaid compared to the tight rosters. Passengers posted on social media with video recording and complained to management, posing threats to the crew

Flight Purser (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - October 12, 2023
Provide good training and personal development. Cutting benefits nowadays. Environment are friendly, with bank and supermarket facilities in the Cathay city which is convenient.

Toxic culture, hostile management and decreasing benefits
Pilot - First Officer (Current Employee) - Hong Kong - September 20, 2023
ENPs scores are often -90 which is practically impossible for any organization. Contracts are always downgraded which means pay and benefits are reduced. Management always justifies underpaying crew with "we are training you so you should be grateful." ??? Every job needs training and it's the employers responsibility to absorb the training costs. The company is run like a chinese company but has every toxic characteristic of a western company.
Pros
Salary cuts every November (Annual Review)
Cons
Toxic management, Fear based culture

Typical Chinese Culture
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Hongkong - September 17, 2023
It's only fun at training. When you start flying, that's when they let you work to their money's worth. There's this Asian culture that evolves within the work group. And that is, that you need to bow down to your seniors.

Loyalty and job performance mean nothing
Flight Purser (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - September 13, 2023
Frontline staff are only treated as employee numbers, not person. The old slogan "People. They make an airline." was completely lip service only. Years of experience and loyalty mean nothing. Really bad management.

Management is trash
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - September 9, 2023
Management is not thinking in employees’ shoes. Pay cut and lack of benefits. Best part used to be the ability to travel Ard the world but the layover has been cut short as well.

Fun but stressful
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - September 7, 2023
It was fun to work as a Flight Attendant. But it was stressful to work in a heavily- understaffed environment in which staff was just treated as an employee number.

No longer a "People they make the airline"
Flight purser (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - August 29, 2023
A downgrading airline in terms of both employee and customer services. Cultural diversities with lots of conflicts and a hierarchy culture that seniors always bully the bottoms. stressful working environment.

People Management is poor
Operations (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - August 11, 2023
Most people not willing to take up extra task, especially those already work for ages. They don’t want improvement, but would jealous with those who work hard and bad mouth them. Pay was not fair when I were working there especially compared to those OLD SEAFOOD, we were doing the same thing or even I was working more, still I was not higher pay over them, they are determined by years of date join but not ability. Situation only improved or they realized when I resigned.
Pros
Benefit
Cons
People management

fair salary
crew (Former Employee) - Tung Chung, New Territories - August 9, 2023
The salary review for flight attendants, particularly those working for commercial airlines, has been a topic of concern and disappointment in recent years. Despite their crucial role in ensuring passenger safety and comfort, many flight attendants are struggling with poor salary packages that fail to reflect the demanding nature of their job. Flight attendants face long working hours, irregular schedules, and the constant need to adapt to different time zones and climates. Moreover, they are responsible for managing emergencies, enforcing security protocols, and providing exceptional customer service throughout flights. However, their salaries often fall short of adequately compensating them for their efforts.

Bad company's Leadership
Flight Attendant (Former Employee) - Hong Kong, China - June 23, 2023
Bad companies may have leaders who lack integrity, competence, or vision. They may prioritize personal gain or power over the best interests of the company and its stakeholders. Ineffective leadership can lead to a toxic work culture and overall mismanagement.
