The most useful review selected by Indeedfair pay. able to work life balance. reasonable manager for me but it depends what team you are following with. However, system and computer are not that user friendly in some circumstances

Nice colleagues and good work culture
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - May 16, 2022
Colleagues are nice and willing to teach. Casual culture, no micro management. Salary increment each year is too little. Difficult to change to other departments.

Unfortunately, I worked in Equities in Hong Kong during the 2010s. An old (Caucasian) boys network ran the trading floor like their personal fief.
Director (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - February 7, 2022
The pace of the entire trading floor is lethargic. They management scramble every few quarters with a new plan, never having successfully completed any previous plans nor stopping to evaluate/learn from the past. Analytical, thoughtful and quiet people are often overlooked/ignored for pay and promotions. Having managed teams, I found it difficult to equalize pay across staff members who were doing equivalent work, because the biases at more senior levels of management (e.g., "that person hasn't been here as long" or "that person needs to work harder" - despite the fact that objective job performance and reviews were excellent - were used as excuses to prevent me from equalizing pay for underpaid staff (who happened to be non-white).
Pros
If you keep your head down and smile and laugh at the right people at the right times, you can survive a long time on a good salary at Citi.
Cons
If you want to learn and grow, and be treated fairly based on your contributions, you can find a better place to work.

Challenging work environment that requires your focus and diligence
APAC Head of Critical Facilities (Current Employee) - Hong Kong - October 14, 2019
Citi is a fantastic place for someone looking for challenges in areas that are not necessarily his or her expertise. If you are looking opportunities to grow and learn something new, this is the place for you.

Strong global platform, good name to have on the CV. Overall a fun and enjoyable workplace. Particularly strong junior and mid level teams albeit bottleneck to senior positions.

Challenging
Sales Operation Assistant (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - October 14, 2018
This job was really challenging and it gave me a lot of different experiences in different field.
My job in this company was to perform checking account documents and other minor tasks if necessary.
The hardest part of this job was to handle some unexpected tasks which requires you to consult colleagues from other departments.

Good place to gain experience
Client Service Officer (Former Employee) - Hong Kong - July 25, 2018
Colleagues and management are friendly. High volume of work and busy at daily operations, overtime is required from time to time. Poor bonus while benefit is not bad.

Investment banking environment.
VP, Human Resources (Former Employee) - Admiralty, Hong Kong Island - July 19, 2018
I only worked there for short period of time, supporting the HR team on performance management projects and daily HR operation. The culture in investment banking industry is different from a professional company, and I left because I was poached by my ex-boss and joined UL international.

Bank taller (Former Employee) - Hong Kong, Central - May 16, 2018
Citibank (HK) is a very busy and high pressure place to work at. But the co-worker will stick together and the managers will do everything to support other staff which is great.
The working hour is really long, around 12 hours day
Pros
good co-worker
Cons
very long working hour

OK place
VP (Current Employee) - Kowloon - January 29, 2018
Bank is OK. not Level 1 top tier but there are worse. people not as collaborative and willing to help as european banks, maybe because it's so big. you ask a question of someone and they just say they dont know, and dont offer to help you find out more, or suggest someone else who might know. it's like pulling teeth, you have to baby them the whole way.
Cons
low pay
