A place I do fall in love

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
My position as a designer but my job duties are more than a designer. From design to product development and project management. Over a year, I built up a strong connection and met lot of friend and students.

Exciting and professional

It's a great place to work. It's an academic environment so you must be ready to engage in personal development activities. Knowledge of software and data analysis packages will be an added advantage.

Laboratory Technician

Depends on the department, task and roles could be different. And it is affected by many reasons. Basically handling clerical work, laboratory stuff and recruiting sometimes. However, very frequent late payment for travel expenses.

High academia organization

Being the research assistant of the faculty of business and economics of HKU is definitely the best research period i have had so far during my academic path. the PhD there are fully supportive and all the professor are the top leaders and thinker of the asian university, so you could easily find any peer who are familiar with your research interests and professionals

Depends on for whom you work

The work depends on the team and the actual supervisor. In my case, there has been a lot of flexibility in performing job tasks which is an advantage. However, there have been many stressful periods during peak months and there is no back-up/buddy system so there can be a lot of pressure in case a person falls sick, etc. Also, holidays can be mostly taken when there are no classes which might not be convenient.

Independent Environment

Working at the university has various portals and networking routes opened to a young employer, but it makes it difficult to find out a clear career path.

Efficient workplace

The University of Hong Kong is one of the Asia's most prestigious universities. The working pace in Public Health can be fast as we have to respond to the outbreak of the potential diseases in Hong Kong and China. Self-independent and high cooperative skills are needed to work here in order to react with any of the changing environment.

Good Working environment

5 days work, close relationship in team, many chances are given to you as you can handle a lot of big-scale project on VR developement with varies of company and organization. The hardest part of the job is lack of human resource and specialists, so you will have to handle many projects at the same time with a very tight schedule. As the team is small, everyone is busy, you probably cannot find a mentor or getting advice immediately, but it is good for your self-learning process. Good Welfare free doctor consultation with pills and free dental service; Free sport centre with swimming pool

Pros

Flexible working hours, Good Colleague Relationship, Lot of opportunities to work with different projects and exhibitions

Cons

Lower Salary than Other Private Commercial Company, Poor management on projects schedule

Depends a lot on your boss

Whether or not it is a good working experience, it depends mostly on the hiring person. In general, I was lucky and my boss is reasonable, and working hour is flexible. However, admin and HR can be rather inefficient, especially when it comes to paperwork and claimant.
