Highly motivated Research Assistant(s) are invited to join the Histology team. The candidate(s) will contribute, in collective efforts, to understand the roles of biomarkers in the dysregulation of Alzheimer's Disease and their contribution to disease pathogenesis.

The ideal candidate(s) will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in translational research, with a primary focus on neuropathological alternations at the cutting-edge microscopic level. The main responsibilities will involve working with mouse brain samples and the precious post-mortem human brain samples, including conducting immunostaining using a wide array of molecular markers, followed by 2D and/or 3D bioimage analysis, to support relevant research projects.

Duties:

  • Process, stain, image, and provide basic interpretations of the tissue images;
  • Implement and/or optimize existing protocols and bioimage analysis pipelines with documentation;
  • Undergo necessary training to acquire technical expertise as required;
  • Maintain good records of experimental data and perform analysis;
  • Perform general project administrative tasks, including equipment maintenance and maintaining stocks of research supplies;
  • Provide support in manuscript preparation and presentations as needed.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bio-(medical) Engineering and Life Sciences, including Biology/ Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biomedical Sciences/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a related field;
  • A creative mind with curiosity, and willing to learn new techniques and software;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented with the ability to work proactively;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize own work in response to deadlines;
  • Experience in tissue handling and histology, and basic laboratory skills in molecular biology and neuroscience (genotyping, immunostaining, microscopy, etc.) is desirable.

(Duration: 1 year, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave and medical benefits will be provided.
