PATECH LIMITED is a technology company located in Hong Kong Science Park. We develop advanced biomedical imaging systems and related technologies for preclinical and biomedical research. Our core technologies include optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy, photoacoustic computed tomography, and high-intensity focused ultrasound.

Our research focuses on high-resolution structural and functional imaging, including vascular imaging, hemoglobin-related functional imaging, blood oxygen saturation measurement, and multimodal biomedical imaging. Potential applications include brain imaging, tumor research, vascular research, and other in vivo studies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to join our R&D team.

The successful candidate will conduct research in photoacoustic imaging and biophotonics, including system development, in vivo imaging, functional imaging analysis, signal and image processing, and biomedical research using animal models.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and optimize photoacoustic microscopy systems.

2. Develop methods for functional imaging, including hemoglobin concentration, blood oxygen saturation, and blood flow analysis.

3. Develop image reconstruction, signal processing, and biomedical data analysis methods.

4. Conduct research in biophotonics, optical system design, and related imaging technologies.

5. Prepare peer-reviewed publications and contribute to patent applications and technology development.

The duties of this position will primarily involve research and development activities conducted in Hong Kong.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

1. The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-related discipline relevant to the proposed research work.

2. The applicant must be a Hong Kong permanent resident or a person legally permitted to work in Hong Kong during the employment period.

3. The doctoral degree should be awarded by:

• a local university in Hong Kong;
• a well-recognised non-local institution; or
• jointly by a local university and a non-local university.

4. For a doctoral degree obtained from a non-local institution, the degree-awarding institution should normally be among the top 100 institutions for relevant STEM-related subjects in the latest publication of at least one of the following recognised world university ranking systems:

• Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings;
• Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU);
• Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings; or
• U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) Best Global Universities Rankings.

5. Applicants with doctoral degrees from other non-local institutions may also be considered if they can provide relevant supporting documentation, such as a qualifications assessment report issued by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), demonstrating that the qualification is equivalent to doctoral level.

6. Research experience in photoacoustic imaging, biomedical optics, ultrasound imaging, optical system development, biomedical image processing, or small-animal imaging is preferred.

Position: Postdoctoral Researcher

Work arrangement: On-site

Work location: Hong Kong Science Park, Hong Kong

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Expected start date: 1 October 2026

Monthly salary: HK$35,000

Living allowance: HK$10,000 per month for an eligible doctoral research talent under the RTH-SPC scheme, subject to eligibility requirements and approval

MPF: Employer contributions will be provided in accordance with applicable Hong Kong requirements.
