Job Posting Details

The Division of Life Science is seeking motivated individuals at the Research Assistant and Research Associate to join the team investigating the pharmacological effects of drug candidates targeting neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to ongoing research projects using a combination of in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches, working closely with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic research environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting cell culture experiments using established and primary neuronal cell models relevant to neurodegenerative disease research.
  • Performing animal-based experiments including behavioral assessments, tissue harvesting, and sample preparation in accordance with institutional guidelines.
  • Carrying out immunostaining procedures (IHC, IF) on brain tissue sections and cell preparations, including confocal and fluorescence microscopy imaging and image analysis.
  • Performing a broad range of molecular biology and proteomics techniques including Western blotting, qPCR, ELISA, and protein extraction and quantification.
  • Assisting with sample preparation for mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows where applicable.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized experimental records and contributing to the preparation of reports and manuscripts.


Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline (for Research Assistant); a PhD degree in a related discipline (for Research Associate).
  • Proficiency in core molecular biology and proteomics techniques is preferred.
  • Experience in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and fluorescence/ confocal microscopy is preferred.
  • Prior experience in animal handling and in vivo experimental procedures is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant research experience are welcome to apply for the Research Assistant position.


Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. (Duration: 1-2 years, renewable)
